Developed by Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Inc, this free app is available for iPhone users. The app is based on the previously published Algonquin Picture Dictionary, which was a collaborative project by seven Algonquin communities. The dictionary contains over 450 words and is divided into 26 subject categories, with culturally-based illustrations. The app includes three languages - English, French, and Anishinabemowin, and has approximately 3,600 audio files in total, covering eight Algonquin dialects.
The voice recordings were conducted by fluent speakers from each participating Algonquin community, making the app an authentic and respectful representation of the language.
